Stefan Legein of the Mississauga IceDogs should make history next week when the National Hockey League conducts its annual entry draft over two days in Columbus, Ohio. The speedy winger is expected to be the first ever member of the Ontario Hockey League team to hear his name called on the first day of the draft.
According to the Central Scouting Bureau, Legein is ranked the 13th best North American skater available in the draft of the world's top 18-year-olds.
His gritty, in-your-face style of play has been compared to that of Toronto Maple Leaf spark plug Darcy Tucker.
Legein, a right winger, scored 43 goals and added 32 assists last season.
Despite his slight stature, standing five-foot-10 and 170 pounds, Legein racked up 115 minutes in penalties last season.
Despite his 43 goals, scouts say Legein needs to improve his shot.
