OILERS VISIT CALGARY - The Edmonton Oilers (12-15-6-0) play their final game prior to the Christmas break as they visit the Pengrowth Saddledome to play the Calgary Flames (17-9-2-3) tonight. It is the fourth of six meetings between the teams this season and the second of three visits to Calgary by Edmonton. The Oilers trail the series 1-2-0-0 following a 2-1 OT win at Rexall Place on Nov. 15, a 1-0 loss at Calgary on Oct. 14 and a 4-2 loss at Rexall Place on Oct. 25. The team's conclude their seasonal series with games at Edmonton on Dec. 28 and Calgary on Mar. 9.
Since joining the NHL in 1979-80, the Oilers have an all-time record of 71-69-18-1 (.506) in 159 games versus the Flames and have been outscored 584-578 by Calgary. Edmonton is 42-27-10-1 (305-263) in 80 games at Skyreach Centre and 29-42-8-0 (273-321) in 79 games on the road.
Thoughts, predictions, rants, opinions....whatchya say!?!?! I'm going to agree with the Magic 8-ball and say the Oil come out flying in a high-tempo game and beat the Flames by 2 goals.
Final: 2-1 Flames. Again the Oilers hold out until the dying minutes. Not enough effort throughout the game. I did like the Oilers improved powerplay thoguh, despite no goals accounted for this game. I hope the Oilers have a New Years resolution to make!
