With the oilers struggling this year and well out of a playoff spot how much longer are the Oilers going to sit by and allow this team to under achieve under the direction of MacT.?IMHO MacT is not getting the job done and hasn't been for quite some time now as every part of the Oilers game seems to be in the tank.I think there comes a point that a change in direction has to be made and that point has come a long time ago as the Oilers have never really got anything going all year long .If the Oilers don't turn things around real quick the playoffs are going to be a pipe dream and again i don't believe MacT is the guy to turn things around for the oilers as nothing he has tried or done so far has worked out for the Oilers.Thoughts
I think I would like to see a change in coaches. MacT should be fired, but who would replace him? Can we afford a new coach? Or will Huddy have to step up?
If MacTavish were fired, I'd bet that Kevin Lowe takes over for the rest of the season so the Oilers don't have to pay another coach to come in on top of MacTavish's salary.
I don't think they should can any of the coaching staff just yet. They are only 4 points out of 8th spot. If it gets any worse very soon, then there's a problem and a change is needed.
Now let's not turn into a Toronto now. Even though we're struggling, MacT can and will turn this around. Don't worry I have great confidense we'll make the PO's.
I remember saying last year that MacT should be canned, but my reasoning last year was so that he could come to Toronto , but this year is a little different, it seems that the guys like him, but they are not playing with their hearts and minds, they look selfish, there is no team with these guys right now.
Is that a coaching problem? or is the fact that the players are playing too much of the me game?

Isn't part of the coaches job to make sure that the players never loose sight of the fact that it is a team game.??If the Oilers had any type of team concept and an actual system in place then MacT would have an easier time holding selfish players accountable. Considering their play as of late and especially on the special teams it's easy to see they either don't have a solid system in place or the players have tuned MacT out but either way the oilers need a change in direction.
It seems to me the Special teams have been the biggest problem with the Oilers. They brought in Simpson as an assistant coach. As a player he was very good on the PP so I'm guessing he has been working with the special teams and so far they are abysmal. Perhaps he should get the Axe instead.
If the Oil were way out of it then perhaps MacT should go but not at this point. They're only a few points out and if they start scoring they'll be right back in the race. Being a perpetually young team due to economics they will always struggle with consistency but the effort is still there. It's not like he's lost the team or anything.
