(EDMONTON - Fri. Nov. 28 - 7:00pm MST) OILERS HOST COLORADO TO OPEN FIVE-GAME HOMESTAND -- The Edmonton Oilers (10-9-3-0) open a five-game homestand Friday as they host the Colorado Avalanche (12-7-1-1) at Rexall Place. It is the third of six meetings between the Oilers and Avalanche this season and the second of three visits to Edmonton by Colorado. The seasonal series is tied 1-1-0-0 as they teams have split their first two games, with both teams winning on home ice. Edmonton won 6-3 at Rexall Place on Oct. 18 and the Avalanche earned a 6-1 win at Denver on Oct. 23.
And of course as the name states, Adam Oates will most likely play. MacT said that he'd play on the fourth line for the first game and move up soon after.
Thoughts, predictiojns, comments?
My Prediction: 5-3 Avs (sorry, I just can't see them winning). I hope I'm wrong.
Sportsnet.ca - Edmonton Oilers defenceman Eric Brewer was examined Thursday and will be re-examined again on Friday in Edmonton.
He is listed as day-to-day with a pulled groin and will definitely be out of the lineup for Friday night's game against Colorado Avalanche. Bobby Allen has been called up from Toronto (AHL) to take his spot on the roster.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old veteran Adam Oates will be given the option of playing Friday. He has yet to declare whether or not he feels ready to make his Oilers debut. His status will be a game-time decision.
Oates was signed by Edmonton just a few weeks ago.
I'm going to look into my crystal shot glass to see if I can predict the future ...
Gazing into my crystal shot glass, I will predict ...
Avs 1, Oilers 4
I have a hunch that the Oilers are going to take their anger out on the Avs after that awful effort (if I can call it that) in the game against the Wings.
If I'm wrong, I'll (gladly) down the contents of this vodka-filled crystal shot glass ... . Especially if the Oilers play a lot like they did in their last game ... :?

After the debacle that occured against the Wings it's going to take more than Oates to get this team going. Good that he considers himself ready to get into the lineup but I'm not holding my breathe. It will take a few games for Oates to feel comfortable and gel with the team.
The Oil can (and have) beat the Avs. They have to play fast, disiplined, hard-hitting hockey tonight. They are going to have to backcheck like hell and crash the net at the other end. Garbage goals count and they need some of those, tonight.
Colorado played last night. It is important for the Oilers to make them work extra hard for everything. Take advantage of a tired team by using your energy and speed which the Oil has in abundance.
If you can do that and put something on the board early the Avs might just roll over. If you let them dictate the flow then you're in trouble. I think the Oil will take it and redeem themselves the Motown mow down ops:

Catch Oates and the Oilers take on the Avs tonight, only on Rogers Sportsnet West (7 pm MT).
Sportsnet.ca - The Edmonton Oilers will get an offensive boost when veteran Adam Oates makes his debut in the blue, orange and gold tonight.
The 41-year-old veteran centre, who was signed by the club earlier this month, will join his mates when they host the Colorado Avalanche at the newly named Rexall Place.
After Oates was given a one-year contract worth just under $2 million. Earlier in the summer, his former club -- the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim -- chose not to pick the option on his contract, thus making him a free agent.
Fortunately for Edmonton, he did not sign with any club until the Oilers came calling. The Oilers currently sit in third place in the Northwest Division with a record of 10-9-3.
he's playing...this will be a game to watch...hope it's on TSN or CBC...
