It is the first of two games between the Oilers and Canadiens this season and Edmonton's only visit to Montreal. It will be the first regular season game to be played outdoors in NHL history.
Thoughts, comments, predictions, or any junk you have on your mind?
If the Oilers are able to keep the turn overs down, I think that with a bit of discipline the oilers should be able to come out on top with a win. However if we see more turnovers like in the Wings the game, this game could get ugly fast, and it might become more close than the oilers would want.
Seeing the way that Salo played last game, I think that he should start.. b/c if Salo gets hot he can be amazing... hes showing signs of getting on a role and thats excatlly what the Oilers need right now. Secondly starting Salo would allow for Conklin to get some extra rest which will benifit him in the end, b/c he is just getting back from an injury an extra day off couldn't hurt any.
Im hoping for a smart game on the Oilers part, so im going to say 3-2 Oil.

4-2 win for the Oilers. I listened to it on the radio, and the new line of Peter Sarno, Tony Salmelainen, and Brad Isbister sounded good together. The RPM line also played well, all Moreau, Reasoner, and Pisani countedfor at least a point. Salo played better, and helped the Oilers win at the end where he made some big saves. Next up are the Ottawa Senators.
I didnt realize that this game was on PPV till after otherwise I could have watched it. But here is what I thought of the game tonight:
Peter Sarno- 2 goals, highly impressive It hink he should stay with the Oilers for a while
Moreau's Line- This line has had alot of chemestry together, and it seems to me that along with fine defensive play, this line has the abilty to chip in with some pts.
Torres- I just cant say enough about him, hes fit in very well with the Oilers, also got another goal tonight.
The fact that the Oilers won 4-2 tells me a few things, the frist being that Edmonton got their act together in their own end and didnt allow the Habs to muster to much of a comeback. They had another PP goal tonight which is an awsome sign, if the PP can get hot its much easier to win hockey games. The Oilers are getting alot of secondary scoring, which is also a good thing... b/c it takes pressure off of the top line to produce goals night after night... and seems that most of the players on the team are comfortable playing with each other, and still produce numbers. The lines are changing almost everynight and the oil are still scoring, shows great chemistry on the team. Im glad the Oilers won this game, and on a side note, Salo seems to be playing with alot more confidence which is always a plus.

A win is a win - which is good. It's always a positive when a club starts a road trip with a win. I didn't see the game but looking at the stats I noticed a few things:
Raffi Torres had 10:28 of ice time which is good. He's been logging 6-8 minutes per game previous to this.
I'm disappointed with the shots. Torres and Reasoner both had 3 shots per game (they were tops for the Oil). Total shots for Edmonton: 17 Hell, Sheldon Souray of the Habs had 11 shots himself! (Montreal had a total of 28)
Edmonton has to shoot more. You can't score if you don't shoot.

I agree that 17 shots is pretty low, but they've been getting alot more shots on net in the past few games or so. I wouldn't wry about that to much, unless it starts to become a bit of a trend.
