Oilers Call Up Valiquette
Quote:
2003-10-24 - OILERS RECALL STEPHEN VALIQUETTE FROM TORONTO
The Edmonton Oilers have recalled goaltender Stephen Valiquette from the Toronto Roadrunners of the American Hockey League.
Valiquette, a 6’5”, 205 pound native of Etobicoke, Ontario, has played in four games for the Roadrunners in their inaugural AHL season and has a record of 2-2-0 with a 2.26 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. He appeared in six NHL games with the New York Islanders during the 1999-00 season and has a career record of 2-0-0 with a 1.87 goals-against average.
Valiquette’s recall was necessitated by a groin injury suffered by Ty Conklin in the second period of the Oilers’ 6-1 loss at Colorado on Thursday, October 23rd. Conklin is day-to-day due to the injury.
Valiquette will be in the lineup and will wear sweater #40 for the Oilers’ game versus the Calgary Flames on Saturday, October 25th at Skyreach Centre.
