Default Oilers Face The Avs

The Oilers host the Avs today, 8 pm MT (CBC), for their 5th game of the 03/04 season. What are your thoughts on the game? Any predictions, comments?

I think Hemmer will play with Torres and Smyth again, they showed great chemistry last game. Salo will get the start, but fail to win 4-2.

ya "Hemmer" starts 1st line....he's doing very will since he was a 4th liner and now he's on the top line. Well i hope the avs lose because i see them more of a threat to Canucks in the long run...but i think colorado will win in OT 2-1..

I liked the line up changes of last game, not only the top line but all of lines in general seemed to have some great things going for them. The D will really be tested tonight, and AV's have alot to talented fire power. Edmonton has to contain alot of players tonight, and wil porlly have their hands full for most of the night. That being said the OIl are going to have to cash in on any chances they that they get, and also they'll need to get their PP to help them out this game if they want to win.

The game tonight will be a good test for the Oil. If I was Mac-T the only change I would do to the lineup (from the Buffalo game) is put Salo in net.

I disagree. I think it's a mistake to take Conklin out after being named first star in the last game. Oilers are playing 5 games in 10 days. Salo could use some more pine time. (I can still hear all of the goal posts from the Calgary game)

Face it Salo has not been the same since "the duck" in the Olympics. Me thinks that Kevin should get on the phone and beat the bushes in Sweden for a third string goalie.....

BTW I cannot stand Salo, if you didn't notice

Ya, Edmonton won(6-3)!! I think this is easily the best game of the season for the Oilers so far. Their powerplay spoke up with 2/8, and also with 2 short-handed goals. Staios was a workhorse, he got 2 goals and 1 assist, as well as many takeaways and blocked shots (he got first star). Also, this is the first game I've seen Smyth comfortable at center. He played effectively, tallying 2 assists and an empty net goal. Cross also had a big night, a goal and an assist, with similar play to Staios. Salo, played his best game with many gave-saving stops with 31 saves. The Oilers came over the Avs top 6, and used there speed and depth against them. Oh ya I think I should mention that Philippe Sauve palyed his first game.

First of all, I'd like to thank Tony Granato for starting Sauve vs the Oilers tonight. It was like the old days when his dad, Bob, would get whipped for 5 by Gretz and Kurri! Thanks Tony!

Salo played strong when he had to and should have been named the 3rd star over Reasoner who lost that faceoff to Forsberg that resulted in Blake's goal.

Smyth deserved to be 2nd star. And Obviously Staios was the best player on the ice.

The refs were horrible. How does Blaine Angus keep his job? They totally ruined the 1st period.

What's with Selanne's measly mustache? He looks like an out of work porn star!
