Well right now it starts in 34 minutes haha, I'm counting. I think it should be 3-1 Edmonton. GO OILERS GO!

This wa a really good game, I took the OIlers about a period to get their legs back but after that they looked awsome. One area that I beileve they need to work on is defence, they had alot of turn overs in the defensive zone it could just be due to opening night but it should stop. The 4rth line had a great game, York played awsome, Smyth 2 goals what more could ask, Chimeria is look great. This team seems to have some chemistry going for them and are looking awsome.

It's final, 5-2 win for the Oil. The Gant Fuhr ceremony was great, oerfect way to start off the 25th anniversary. Many players got 2 points; Smyth (2 goals), Hemsky (2 assissts), Torres (1 and 1), and Horcoff (1 and 1). The Oilers played great, and the powerplay looked good. The fourth line of Torres-Horcoff-Laraque was very good and was probably the best line of the game. They were in fact number 1, 2, and 3 stars of the game. Great game Oilers!

Salo gave us another scare. That weak goal he let in from the corner was not the stuff a starter should be allowing with a 1-goal lead. Grant Fuhr he's not!

The Sharks were shooting high on purpose tonight. Everytime a puck comes up in Salo's chest, he gets handcuffed. Watch closely and you'll see what I mean. Shoot from everywhere and shoot high is the scouting report on Tommy.

Luckily Nabokov is a sieve. He can't handle the puck. And he guesses wrong on breakaways. Case in point, 2 of the Oilers goals tonight were scored with Nabokov flopping on the ice like Mike Palmateer!

Only got to see the highlights.

I thought Fuhr getting dressed in his old gear was great. I'm happy the Oilers finally retired his jersey.

Glad to see the Oilers start the season with a win. Good to see Torres get his first point of hopefully many.

Maybe Fuhr should come out of retirement and see if he can lead the Oilers to the Stanley Cup. If the Oilers can't use him, the Rangers always need help.

Those goals against the post really frustrate a goaltender....unfortunately, they do happen. Sometimes a netminder will cheat and not be right up against the post so he can zoom out to the other side if the puck ends up there. You are correct in saying Salo isn't Fuhr...that's why Fuhr is inducted in the HHOF and Salo never will be.

Salo has done alot over the summer in trying to improve his game...let's give him a few games under his belt and see if we see any improvements.

unfortunately, living in Europe didn't allow me to watch the ceremonies but I listened on nhl radio at 2am haha.
As you can see from my user name, big fan of Fuhr. Great year for him. It's good to hear all his old teammates praising him. He was class act.
I read an article from the Edmonton Sun on Slam sports and it said he's suffered over 50 injuries. Wow!

Next stop...... Hall of Fame.
