Whast do you think the Oilers starting lineup will be when seasons rolls around the corner. I think every team needs a roster of 23 players? Well here's what I think:
I'll reserve judgement on the lineup until Comrie gets either dealt, or dealt with.
Robin Brownlee's article in the Sun today pretty much says that Comrie wants out of Edmonton.
I wont believe that until I hear it from either Kevin Lowe or Comrie's agent. Smyth is looking kinda weak playing center, mainly because he's never really played that posistion before. With Yorks wrist still not 100% the Oilers are lacking quality face off men, and in that aspect Comrie is being missed. I am pretty confindent that they will get a contract worked out sooner or later, because right now I am not sure where a trade would go down.

Comrie's silence speaks volumes. He's obviously open to a trade. His conversation with Brownlee went on for 15 minutes and he never once said that he does not want to be traded.
In fact he's never said anything that a desperate player would say when on the brink of leaving a city that he doesn't want to leave.
Worst part is that Meehan is his agent. Isn't he the same agent that represented Cujo?
I could be wrong, but I think Rich Winter is Comrie's agent, for whatever difference that makes.
Another in a long line of agents telling their client how great they are, just hold out for "what you're worth"...
I'd like to know what the exact numbers that each side has thrown on to the table in the Comrie negotiations.
Brendan Morrison made $2.15 million last season in Vancouver. Is Comrie better or worth more than him? I don't think so.
$6 million over 3 years seems fair to me.
As a side-note...interesting you mentioned the agents. With the CBA battle looming no one has mentioned THEM. They should take on alot of the responsibility of the demise of the NHL (kinda like the lawyers and how they've screwed up the judicial system).
Last I heard, Comrie is looking for somthing around 3-3.5 mill a season, and I personally don't believe that hes worth that much. He has potential to earn that much, but at this stage now I don't think so. 6 mill for 3 seasons sounds alright to me. The biggest problem with the contract is that Lowe has only offered Comrie a 10% increase, to 1.1 mill.

$3-$3.5 million would put him in the same neighborhood as Radek Bonk, Chris Drury, Eric Lindros, Andrew Cassels and Brian Rolston.
Those players are older and have proven themselves for a lot longer than 2.5 years in the league.
It would also put him ahead of newly resigned Brad Richards in TB ($2.4 million) who's the same age as Comrie and has put up much better numbers on a less talented team than the spoiled brat in Edmonton has!
