And then there was one
The Edmonton Oilers have announced the signings of forwards Georges Laraque, Ethan Moreau, Brad Winchester and Joe Cullen. Laraque has been inked to a new three-year pact; Moreau has agreed to a one-year term and collegians Winchester and Cullen have accepted two-year contracts.
General Manager Kevin Lowe says the signings all help to solidify the future of the Edmonton Oilers, with Laraque and Moreau being vital cogs for this season. Moreau has steadily added to his offensive totals over the past three seasons, notching 14 goals last year, including three shorthanded makers, good for seventh overall in the NHL. Laraque continues to be regarded as the league’s top enforcer and demonstrates a potential for offensive flare that allows the coaching staff to play him in virtually any situation.
Winchester was a second round draft pick of the Oilers in 2000. The 6’5”, 215-pound left winger scored 10 goals and added six assists for the University of Wisconsin last season. Cullen, a seventh round pick in 2000, is a 6’1”, 210-pound centre who scored 20 goals and 15 assists for Colorado College last year.
All four players will be on the ice as the Oilers open their 2003 training camp at Millennium Place tomorrow morning.
