Both Edmonton and Carolina made it to the '06 Final. The following year both of the previous years finalists (Edmonton & Carolina) failed to make the playoffs this was the first time this had happened in the history of the NHL.

This was also the first time two ex-WHA teams met in the Stanley Cup Final.

Fact #1: The Edmonton Oilers are owned by a group of Edmontonian investors called the Edmonton Investors Group.

Fact #2: That is the most unoriginal name to ever be coined by a group of sports owners.

Fact #3: Daryl Katz was going to build a new arena.

Fact #4: EIG is GIE backwards.

Fact #5: According to a poll of experts (two of my best friends, one random guy on the street and myself) the Edmonton Oilers are the greatest team to ever set foot on the NHL ice.
