Default Quincey a King

Detroit Defenseman Fall-Out:

Quincey was just claimed off of waivers by the LA Kings. That eliminates part of the problem with congestion and salaries on the Detroit Blue Line.

By my count:
12 forwards - 6 dmen - 2 goalies

plus: Chelios, McCarty, and Meech = 23 man roster limit.

Chelios is currently on long-term IR and does not count against that limit, so I believe Howard is up until he comes off short-term IR. Once Howard comes off and goes down to GR, I would suspect that Downey returns to the Wings.

Good for Quincey, he might get to play in LA.

Probably a good thing for Quincey's development. Is too bad that we lost him, because he is young and is a big defender, but there just wasn't room on the roster. Hopefully he finds his stride with the Kings.

I have not been impressed by Quincey. He is not that physical, he is not that skilled, and he brings little else to the lineup. Maybe the Detroit coaches hand-cuffed him and didn't allow him to scrum in front of the goalie. I'm not sure. But unless he becomes a Jason Smith type guy, he won't be in the league very long.

He's a decent player in limited situations. He should be able to stick somewhere as a 5/6th defenseman.

Good for him, he is looking great in LA so far.
