Wrigley Field
Red Wings / Blackhawks - Wrigley Field - New Years Day.
Sounds like a gimmick to me!

I think it will be a great game. I wish it was in Detroit though, so then I'd more likely be able to attend the game, but it still should be great to watch on TV. Chicago is much improved this year, so its not like the Wings will run them over either.
Definitely a date I'm noting on my calendar.

They can't even fill an areana let aloan an out door stadium.!!
Ya Detroit should host it so the stands are empty, that would shirly promote the game.!!

If you're going to insult my team at least use proper grammar. I gave you a hand with this one, so you can compare and make notes on what to work on for next time.

I'm not sure how it's insulting your Team.?
The truth of the matter is the Wings attendance was down all season , including playoff games not being sold out.
No matter what the reason or excuse it still remains the truth and the fact.
To host this type of event with the chances of not filling to capacity would be a disaster for the NHL.

Sorry, but most people would know better than to assume that Detroit would not fill the arena for an outdoor event. But perhaps you're too... uninformed... to recognize the difference between an event that occurs once every couple years (every year from now on?), and one that occurs 41 times a year, not including playoffs. You'd also have to be blissfully ignorant of the fact that the Hawks have a more difficult time filling the stands than Detroit has over the last couple seasons (Detroit average 2000 more per game last year, and nearly 10,000 per game the year before).
But perhaps you really do know so little about hockey. So I apologize for commenting on your grammar when really I should be more interested in educating you so that you don't appear so... unaware... the next time you take a stroll into the Wings section. Your grammar we cannot help, I suppose, since that seems to be deeply ingrained into your online persona, but if ever you feel yourself lacking or in need of an intelligent opinion, I'm here to help.

The Hawks are a team on the rise while at the same time their attendance is also on the rise. So filling an out door venue wouldn't be a problem.
While as the wings already have a winner and they can't even fill their barn.
Pretty pathetic if you ask me , or at the very least shows just how lacking wings fans are when it comes to appreciating what the wings have accomplished.
Either way the suggestion that some how wings fans would support an event like this is lacking at best and truelly un informed when the numbers to back the declining interest in the wings is right there staring one in the face.
It just go's to show imo that wings fans can't even appreciate a winner and are dis interested in the wings on a whole .

Right, the economy has nothing to do with it. Wings fans must be disinterested.
Declining interest is not what is happening for the Wings. The Wings consistently draw more people to stadiums that have a hard time filling. A clear indicator that the economy has more to do with it. And the Wings still averaged 90% capacity, and over 18,000 people. Some of the other stadiums don't even seat 18,000, much less get that many to attend. The Wings were still top 10 in ticket revenue. Why do they always have to be top 3 for people to be satisfied? Why are you too slow and ignorant to accept the fact that the economy is terrible right now? And don't give me the bull**** about how the other sports stadiums always fill up, because 1. Thats not even true, and 2. Those sports are more popular in the States to begin with.
And you still are refusing to acknowledge that this is an event that occurs only once a year, and really only once in a lifetime for the people in the area. Definitely would be no problem filling up.
But this is like trying to teach kindergartens calculus: it just ain't gunna get through.

Um so wouldn't that in fact mean that there is more interest in other sports .?
Meaning there's less interest in the Wings.
Thanks for admitting that the people of Detroit for the most part are disinterested in the wings.
So to say they would have no problem filling up an out door stadium is a stretch and miss leading with no proof what so ever to back up your claim of selling out .
Funny how wings fans claim poverty for the declining attendance yet the people of Detroit and area have money for other sports at higher prices and bigger venues.

I don't find anything wrong with a team consistantly in the top 10 in attendance. Detroit has been just that, since 2001, so has Philadelphia, and so has Toronto. So you 2 guys get a room, I'll buy the rubbers and you guys make up
