Well, they dont have a choice at this point. The Pens had some good chances, but Ozzie was solid tonight. I had this feeling the Pen played not to lose tonight. Its tough to really gauge a game 1 especially with all the adjustments that occurs during the game and again once game 2 starts. I just hope they get their game on for game 2 and not make this series a breeze for the Wings

Funny, sad and true all at the same time.

Gotta love the NHL. Too bad that's too big to be a signature.

If he could stand up for himself he'd still be in Edmonton.

Well, we'll see how Therien adjusts when he has some control on matchups, but the way the series has gone, its looking as bleak as an Arctic landscape for the Penguins.

Game 1, the Pens couldn't get room and they couldn't finish, both testaments to Detroit taking away time and space. Its there goal and it works, and it explains the sputtering Penguin offense. Detroit is just too good at getting the puck and then keeping it.

Game 2, the Pens swap lines and switch to dump and chase, and found out that was even dumber. Honestly, their intention was to back the d into the corner and then hit them. Did they not watch the tape of the last 2 years? It doesn't work. And it got Pittsburgh into a 2-0 hole.

Then they resorted to "message-sending" which resulted in 2 game mis-conducts and Pavel Datsyuk pounding the crap out of Roberts. Pasha beat the crap out of a Penguin? Yeah, these Euros sure are weak.... =)

Is there any doubt that the West was stronger this season?

i got no stress when giving credit when it is due. for sure i would be chuffed to bits if PIT were to win it all; i am still grinning from the demise of PHI!

but for fug's sakes.... even if they lost the finals i would hope PIT would make a run of it and cause DET to work for their trophy!

currently, the west does seem to be best. but we'll have to see how it all pans out once the finals relocate to the east. otherwise, any such conclusion made now, would be premature almost to a 'crack n coke' standard!

I participated on a live blog on mlive.com the last 3 games, and its been a lot of fun. Today someone told me I was easily the most pessimistic person on the blog. Me? Pessimistic? No way.

Huge win by the Wings. Zetterberg was just spectacular defensively, especially on that 5 on 3.
