When reading the following article, I cant' help but wonder; why doesnt' the crowd take up a collection or something to pay the fine? With a packed house it's like .50 cents, and it gives a nice message to the folks that seem to not want to acknowledge that the NHL existed before Bettman's tenure? I know if I ever went to the Joe I'd have my two quarters or dollar ready and waiting.

I 100% agree with you, he's been doing that for countless years and it brings a real spark to the beging of the game. Just to switch up your idea though i think maybe Mike or one of the players should stand up and pay it for him.

Hopefully this off season they'll fight to have that rule taken out.

Meh I wouldn't rely on the players. Doubt they'd back anyhting that might make their union look bad to the owners at this time. The onyl group that is both unrepresentated, and un-appriciated is the ans, and they'll probably be the one that has to do something about it....if they want it kept at least.

This is probably one of the most depressing decisions that Bettman made. The reasoning he used was essentially that it gets the fans riled up and gives the home team an unfair advantage... and people wonder why the Joe is so quiet.

That's why it's called home ice advantage, Buttman.

People wonder if he knew anything about hockey. I'm wondering if he knows anything about sports! It's hockey, not a damn communist commune. Tha's why teams fight the whole regular season to get the highest ranking they can for the playoffs.

I'm starting to wonder if any sport has had a more clueless person at the helm then this guy.

Also: Why doesn't someone get a stuffed octopus and throw it out there? Think it could have a similar effect?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Flood the ice with them, with nice little notes that read "FU Bettman"

Wonder how much luck they'd have fining 20,000 fans? (although i'd expect they'd try too)
