Default Semi-Finals: Colorado vs. Detroit

Well, its Detroit and Colorado again. Despite the Wings dominating the season series 4-0 with 3 shutout, I think the Avs are going to give us big problems. I have a feeling this isn't going to end well for the Wings...

But, I can't vote against my team. Wings in 7.

Colorado is not what they were, and the Wings are maybe better than they've been... Both teams improved at the deadline.

Colorado will try to out-skill us, and honestly, that seems like a losing proposition.

Sakic - Retire already, you're making old guys look bad.
Forsberg - Let me introduce your protege, who is now the master: Henrik Zetterberg.
Smyth - You might learn something from Holmstrom.
Foote - shut up.
La Derriere - I really hope Kronwall leaves his feet to hit you.

I hate the Avalance.

T-6 hours. My rage mounts with every minute.

I think we'll be impressed by the how the Wings come out flying this game. I just worry that the exuberance could lead to penalties.

As a coach, I think I would bench Lebda in favor of Lilja, but maybe I don't worry about it until the Avs win because of their Power-Play.

Also, Brad Stuart may be out for Game1...hurry up and squirt that kid out Mrs. Stuart!

His kid was born last night, but he still isn't playing tonight, so Lilja is in, as is Lebda. Maltby also isn't ready to go yet, so Helm will remain in the lineup.

Might as well name the kid "Claude" or "Patty" at this point.

Maybe Stuart remembers the leniency and good feelings of today when he enters free agency this summer...

Maltby won't get back into the lineup until 2 things happen:
1). He's healthy
2). The Wings lose a game.

T-1.5 I'm grinding my teeth down to nubs just thinking about the stupid paw print on Forsberg's jersey.

I agree completely with that statement. Sakic is doing magical things at his age that most players could not have done. What is he, the 4th oldest player to ever score 100 points or more in a season? Extending to his all-time playoff overtime goals record? Almost on a point-per-game basis in the playoffs at age 38?

Joe Sakic is a god.

Foote - shut up.
You just know he's that good, right?

If Zetterberg is Forsberg's protege how is Zetterberg also his master?

How to get your bell rung by Chris Pronger?

And Foppa didn't even play, and apparently Theo decided it was a good day to have the flu. Somehow I still don't buy that.

Well, Game 1 is in the books:

Let's recap:
  • The Wings are amazing, the Avs are not.
  • Foote played like the crap he is.
  • Forsberg didn't play like the crap he is (because he never plays, because he's always hurt, because he's crap).
  • Sally played like the crap that got him stuck in Florida for years.
  • Stasny took a dive like Kariya was grading him on it.
  • Wally-chuk didn't man up after interfering with Franzen did he?
  • Hannan continues to make the bone-headiest plays a dman can make
  • Theodore demonstrated his rare ability to suck and yet still have announcers talk about his MVP season (forever ago)
  • Sakic looked as old as I thought he was.

An unbiased recap indeed.

If he could stand up for himself he'd still be in Edmonton.

True, but my screen name doesn't exactly scream "fair and balanced" does it?

I can add more about the Wings to balance things out:
  • Franzen continues to blossom as a solid 2nd liner.
  • Filppula demonstrated why the Wings won't trade him.
  • Lilja played fairly strong on the blue-line after a few days out.
  • Are Datsyuk and Zetterberg linked by ESP? Looked like it on the first goal, anyway.
  • Refs sure swallowed the whistle in the last 5 minutes. Both teams were guilty of breaking the rules.
  • Helm is very fast.
  • I hate Forsberg.
