Default Nashville Series: Game 4 +

So what will it take to capture a strangle-hold on the series tonight in Nashville?

My keys:
1). Play very tight defense in the 1st. Nashville should be sent to the intermission with less than 8 shots on goal. Suck all the momentum you can into an abyss of boring, grinding, defensive play.

2). Screw the matchups. Its banjo-pickin' Nashville. Let them put whoever they want on our guys, just worry about the defense.

3). Use offensive pressure to generate power plays. Even if you don't capitalize on them, they chew up clock. The wings need to get 4-5 Power Play opps this game.

Really, the Wings don't need to do much of anything to close the series out. Just stick with the trade marks. Put 30-40 shots on their goalie, limit Nashville to 15-22 shots on goal. Generate situations where Nashville will take penalties, play smart defense. Getting the first goal in any remaining games should be viewed as important.

The summary is basically to play like they did in game 2. Dominate possession and play smart hockey. This team is very capable of doing this, and when they are on their game they can beat anyone. I just hope that Hasek bounces back with a huge game tonight, because he really needs that to give an extra boost to his confidence.

So what do you do now? I think Babcock needs to play Osgood. You can't let Dom's rattled confidence sink this team. You don't score on 3 point shots like that. Not the Pred's defense. It'd be one thing if it was Al Iafrate, Al MacInnis, Sheldon Souray, or Zdeno Chara. Its not. It's frickin' Devries, Hamhuis, and Weber. These guys are good, but none of them are the next great dman.

I'm sour after last night. Really sour. The Wings are hardly out (they'd have to lose 2 more), but I just get frustrated that they're not dominating Nashville.
