It would appear the Wings are in full "rest mode" for the playoffs. Here's the latest from today's morning skate before the Dallas game:

Hasek - Out. Sore back.
Cleary - Out. Broken Face / Fat Wallet.
Lilja - Out. Sick.
Draper - Out. groin tear (small).

If your keeping track, other starters have rested recently, too: Rafalski, Kronwall, Lidstrom, Chelios, Holmstrom. In the next ten games, I wouldn't be surprised if guys like Datsyuk, Maltby, Drake, Zetterberg, and Filppula are all "injured" with 1 or 2 day injuries.

Interesting side note:
Helm recalled. This kid is FAST as lightning. Excellent Detroit prospect. Can't wait to see him in "the wheel."

McCarty practiced. Needs a bit of time to get in the lineup, but should happen soon. Betting he sits tonight out, practices Friday and plays the next 2 home games. I'd love to see him just grab Tootoo by the throat and shake him like a rattle.

I don't think these injuries are fake. I do think they made Lidstrom sit an extra week past when he felt he was ready, but Drapers injury almost kept him out of the last game, so I think it's legit. Holmstrom has had problems with his groin all year, so I think that is legit too. Hopefully everyone is healthy by the time the playoffs role around.

Well, as a result of Drapers injury we got our first view of Helm in a Wings jersey. For the limited time he got (7 minutes), I thought he looked good. He has elite speed, and he fore-checks like crazy. The only problem is he needs to put on some weight before he's ready for the big-time. Personally, I'd rather have him on the team than Maltby.
