I'm not sure what the Wings are going to do in this game. I quite honestly didn't think they played spectacularly against Colorado. I haven't been all that impressed lately, but they have still been winning, which is a good sign. But, I think that with the return of Holmstrom, the team will slowly get back to form.
I also think that Babcock needs to put the ZDH line back together, or find linemates that better click with Z, because Hudler really doesn't seem to have chemistry with him. The Clearly-Filppula-Hudler line was great before Z came back, so I really think Babs should consider putting that line together again, along with the ZDH line.
Well, I hear they are starting Osgood instead of Hasek, who has the awesome record against Minnesota. They should be alright aganist them. Maybe Hank will pick up a couple points, they have been playing pretty well as of late I think. They just keep on rolling. Game is on FSN HD so that pumps me up.
I am of the mind that Z+D should be split up on seperate lines except on the PP.
Filpula and Hank work very well together. So do D and Holmer. Hudler/Cleary/Samuelsson can fill whatever role is working throughout the game.
IMO, this creates a situation where one of those 3 will try harder to perform so they can stay with either line, seeing as your best chance to score is on one of those two lines.
I just really, REALLY like the "curveball" of ZDH. You play the first period with them split up, lulling the other team's coach into a rythym, then throw them out together on a quick change, thereby getting him thinking about the next time.
Its a mind game. A mind game that cant be underestimated.
As it pertains to Minny, Im not worried. Minn will trap their way thru another game only to lose to a more talented team that can play ANY game they want to.
Wings can play as good/better defensively than Minny. The question is, can Minny's forwards score with the Wings?
I would rather have Osgood start in this one anyways because like datsyukdangler1 said, he has an awesome record against them. Either way though, it shouldn't be a struggle for the wings.
Wow not too many fans seemed to stay around for the ot and shootout. I tuned in after the Pens game finished and there are alot of empty seats in there. Did the fans leave early???
