Detroit was definetly "Hockeytown" for the past 15 years but this year thier attendance hasnt always been sell outs like it was last year. They are still bringing around 19,000 people to the games whcih is still great but they arent selling out around 20,500 like they did all last year. The Detroit area is losing fans because of business shutting down and people just moving away from the city or not being able to afford tickets to the games. The industry in the Detroit area is skrinking and thier is high levels of unenployment. I believe Datsyukdangler had a great explanation a while ago why Detroit wasnt selling out any more.
I believe Minnesota now shares the repuation of Hockeytown with Detroit right now as Minnesota fans are so Wild about this Wild hockeyteam. You could probably put 2 teams in Minnesota and they would still do extremely well attendance wise.
