Just what the Wings need. Someone hurt three games into the season. Franzen, although he doesnt show up all the time on the scoreboard, is one of the grittiest and toughest guys out there. He's going to be one helluva hole to fill.

Well, of course it didnt put people in the seats. Drake isnt a big ticket item now is he?
You need to research fighters in this league.
You're stretching my patience. I'm sure we can find something outside of how tough this team is that we can disagree on. It's time to move on, we have differing opinions, and we are starting to restate previous arguments.

I know this is off-topic than the Franzen theme for this thread, but Drake will win fans the way he plays. He is like a Kirk Maltby, and for how much that guy plays every night (which is not all that much) and the [i]way[i]he plays, he will get fans. People like guys who do the dirty work and throw themselves around. Drake does it well.

Yes let's move on from, not how tough this team is, rather, how soft this team is.
Over it, under it, you like Euro hockey and I dont.
You think the Wings are tough I think they are soft.
Yes, we will differ from time to time.
Here, I'll lay it out for you. I do like "Euro" hockey, but I also like the tough style of play. I accept the style that Detroit is playing now, but if they were to make some roster changes to add a good, tough forechecker (in the mold of McCarty, not a Boogard)then I would accept that with an open mind. I just don't like players that have one specified role that is to go out and hurt people. Then you have things like what happened with Boulerice and Kesler.
Now, can we please get back on topic, which is to discuss Franzen's injury and what impact, if any, it is having on the team?
Personally I think that Detroit has adapted well without him in the lineup, but the true test is going to come on the trip out to California, and then again back out to the west coast after a quick home stint. There even, I think Filppula has the better endurance, and will hold out better than Franzen.
Also, it seems that Babcock has put the ZDH line back together in light of this injury. We'll see how that pays off.
