Detroit managed a point tonight against the Jackets, but they looked pretty bad the entire time. Zetterberg goes only his second game of the season without a point, and Datsyuk has another good game. Lilja had a monster game, with a couple huge plays at key times. Rafalski and Kronwall just sucked.
At this point, Hudler has only played 7 minutes of this game against Nashville... the same as Dallas Drake. Coming off of a 3 point night, this makes no sense. Babcock boggles my mind sometimes
I can understand the frustration, but I can't see where Hudler deserves more than 15-16 minutes a game.
If there isn't a lot of PP time, I can see where his minutes might fall to the 12-13 minute range.
He's a talent to be sure, but he's also still a liability in some situations. I don't think he's earned a guaranteed 17-22 minutes you see a lot of 2nd line NHL forwards getting. For one thing, there are too many other players on the Wings that deserve some time. For another, Hudler is not able to win physical battles against larger opponents in the corners. When on the road, a team like Nashville can but some pretty big bodies (like Arnott, Erat, and Dumont) out there against Hudler. Whereas at home, Babcock can use Hudler as a trump card to completely dominate some shifts.
...you guys have no idea how bad I want TSN and Sportsnet (are they the same?).
I went to Windsor awhile back after a Wings game and was watching the TSN report. I am just not used to a national telecast dedicating that much time to hockey.
Obviously, I didnt want to leave. BTW, I hate border agents.
This is getting ridiculous. Edmonton had no business being in that game. Hasek invited them in.
I missed the game because I had an exam, and I was very disappointed to see that the Wings lost the game, yet severely outshot the Oilers. I thought maybe it had something to do with Hasek, and I guess this comment confirms my suspicions. Time to give the reign over to Osgood and let him run with it.

Wings are in trouble (as any team is) when you take three major players out of the lineup. Missing Draper and Maltby once or twice is no big deal, but over time, it forces you to over play guys or give time to those that just aren't as good. The Wings start paying the price as other teams wear the the Wings down.
Missing Holmstrom is a real killer. He makes so much happen by keeping pucks a live in the offensive zone and gathering in rebounds, let alone his play in front of the net. If Holmstrom misses 10 games, I could easily envision the Wings going 6-4.
Look, Hasek hasn't been strong. But he has been much improved since he "got back into the rotation."
