Stuart did have a good a debut, and that was a joke of a non-call. Why such a thing is unreviewable is beyond me. They'll review a puck going in illegally under the goal or through the netting, but they can' review whether or not a puck went out of play? Usually, hockey review is the best in sports but that was dispicable.
Wings won to open March with a winning record in Buffalo. Good game all around, but the 2nd Buffalo goal was strange. Another should-have-been-stopped type play. But I guess the Sabres were robbed by Lilja so it all comes around.
Kronwall and Stuart have done a ton to "restabilize" the defense.
Injury Update:
Kronwall - Clavicle: Playing again now.
Hasek - Hip: Playing again now.
Rafalski - Groin: Practicing, hopes to play Wed.
Lidstrom - Knee: Lifting, still 10 days or more out.
Chelios - Fibula: Suana and Stationary Bike, Day-to-Day.
Cleary - Face: Practicing, hopes to play last 3 games (Apr)
I really can't believe the difference having Kronwall back makes. The guy can be a game breaker if he has to be, as was shown yesterday because Stuart really didn't do much. Not harping on Stuart, because he had a great 1st game, and I know it's going to take him some time to get used to the style of play.
Anyways, Rafalski is definitely back on Wednesday, so that will be another boost for the team. I expect that Lidstrom will be back for the game on the 11th. I think anything longer than that would be just a precaution.
Detroit wins their 5th in a row, and ties a league record with their 8th consecutive 100 point season. Now we just need to see if this team is a legit playoff team.
So you can tell that the Wings had nothing to play for in this game, the Predators had way more energy than we did. Hopefully they can put together a more consistent effort tomorrow, because I don't want them slumping in these last couple weeks of the season. Thats never a good thing.
so Pronger should have manned up and fought Kesler or laid him out with a big hit later in the game. retaliation by stomping on someone is cowardly. its not like Pronger isn't a big guy and can't stand up for himself.
If he could stand up for himself he'd still be in Edmonton.
what is the reason for the octopus being thrown on the ice in Detroit every year?
It's just not every year it's just about every game. It's tradition and gets the fans into the game.

The game last night was great, i was pretty happy with how we played. I think we need to sharpen up on our second and third chances. Also i really hope Franzens up and ready for the Stanley cup games.
I'm surprised they allow it! so in which way does this represent the game? whats the actual reason for this? I'm not critical of it but just don,t understand the reason!

It's something that has been done since the 50's, when it only took 8 wins to win the Cup. So the eight legs on the octopus represent the 8 wins needed. Kinda like a good luck thing. Ingenious, if you ask me.

I could be wrong on the history, but it is possible that the Wings won 8 straight to bring the cup home the year they first threw the Octopus...
