Ok, so there have been rumors swirling for most of the summer that the Wings have a strong and persistent interest in former Wings Killer Peter Forsberg. Obviously when he is on, Foppa is possibly the best player in the world. The only problem is, he has been off (of the ice) more often than on in recent years.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how likely we are to sign him, and just looking for some input on a potential signing of Forsberg. Lidstrom has been quoted about it, and there was a story on ESPN.com about it (but i dont have INsider so i couldnt read it )

Uhm, haven't heard a single rumor about Foppa wanting to go to the Wings, so I'd say the chances are very very very slim. The Wings may want him, but he doesn't want them. He says he would like to go to a team he's been on before, and all the respectable sources I've seen say the Avs are the frontrunners for that.

I heard that Wings have been calling Foppa since his surgery and very interested in signing him. But thats all I heard.

Detroit let Forsbergs agent know that if Foppa was coming back, they were a team that is interested. Thats all that there is to it.

And Colorado is not the front runner, there really is no front runner. First he has to decide whether or not he's going to play this season or retire. Until then, rumors are just pure speculation.

I don't think he will go to the wings at all, because I still think he has a ton of respect for the Avs organization. I think he will play this year, but I don't with who. I'd like to see it with the Avs, but one could never know.

This just a rumour though.
