"I've contacted (Lang's agent) Petr Svoboda and told him we will not be offering a contract to Robert Lang," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press Wednesday.

Lang joined the Red Wings at the trade deadline in 2004 and has scored 114 points in the last two seasons. However, he only managed eight points in 18 playoff games as his ice-time continued to dwindle.

The newspaper also reports there was tension between Lang and head coach Mike Babcock.

I read somewhere that there was personality clashes between him and the coaching staff and more. How the heck can one not get along with Babcock? Seems like a straight shooter to me....I would think too that if that is true, getting on elsewhere will not be easy.

I can see why someone wouldnt get along with Babcock. He is a demanding *****, but he doesnt hide that fact or go behind the player's back to motivate them.

But Lang just flat-out did not produce. He was $$ which required Babs to play him even though there may have been a better more complete effort from someone in the pressbox.

I hear what you're saying, I guess I just don't relate. I personally don't have a problem with demanding hardasses in leadership roles. I've been led by a few....nothing wrong with following honesty IMO.

Lang just dosen't have passion for playing hockey. He's big and skilled and he's just wasting it looking for the easy way. Wish I had his gifts, I wouldn't take them for granted.

Good thing I think. He really wasnt an asset to the team. He was just taking up roster space.

That is sooooooooo true he has the talent but he just doesnt use it.
