Default Chelly re-signs

Personally, I'm happy. He does the team a great service and gets paid little. The only problem is that it slows down the progress of some of the younger defensemen that are looking to come in. I suppose another year in the minors won't hurt Kindl, but Meech and Quincey I think are going to have to clear waivers, and I don't really like the idea of losing either of them.

Couldnt agree more. He more than proved he deserved another contract. At the expense of the young guys....maybe.

But there is no rule that says we have to resign Markov and Schneider either (if young guys getting playing time is important).

True enough. I really hope the Wings bring back Markov though, he seemed to pair up well defensively with Lidstrom. Schneider I think will ask for quite a bit of money, and I hope that Holland has the sense to let him walk. But, if Schneider is willing to take 3.5-4 max, I wouldn't mind seeing him back... meaning that either Meech will be the 7th d-man, or Quincey. I think only Meech would have to clear waivers out of the 2 (again, I think....) so it would more likely be Meech.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I really don't have a good understanding of how the waivers stuff works, and how teams work with it.

That being said, I could not be happier for you sir, its players like Chris that make this game great. His grit, determination, and passion for the game are exceptional beyong belief.

Or like constapation and saving money on toilet paper. Only one of the many wonderful side effects, of course.
