The NHL has suspended Detroit Red Wing defenceman Derian Hatcher for three games, TSN has learned.
Hatcher was suspended for his elbow to the head of Caglary's Matthew Lombardi in Game 6 of the Detroit-Calgary series. Lombardi returned from the hit to the finish the game, but has not played since then, missing Game 1 of the San Jose-Calgary conference final.
The NHL conducted a disciplinary hearing with Hatcher Tuesday morning.
The three regular season games will be served at the beginning of next season.
-i am not saying what hatcher did wasn't wrong but how the league handled it was wrong. it took a week after the hit for the league to take some action. the wings are out of the playoffs what difference does it make. though they are only abiding by the rules i think if the league is going to punish hatch they should fine him or something along those lines what difference does it make being out for the first 3 games of the season.
