Default It's been a great series

Detroit Lost! But It doesn't change the fact that it turned out to be a great series. It's must be tough to lost 2 games in OT.

All I can say is Good job guys and keep it up! Good luck next year

Go Leafs.

Detroit is going to have some major re-assembling before next year. A lot of guys are going to go and I don't think that many new guys will come in.

If I were Joseph, after the way Detroit treated him this year, I'd as for a trade. He said he went to Detroit because he felt it was his best chance to win the cup, well he did everything that he could, but Detroit didn't score a goal in the last 2 games. It's time for Joseph to move on to a team that has a shot at the cup and more importantly, a team that will give him the respect he deserves.

How long is Cujo's current contract?

You know, this will probably never happen...but if Eddie retires, and if Cujo is a UFA...I can totally see him coming back to Toronto to finish his career.

He has one year left on his contract with detroit. I would love to see Joseph back in Toronto if Belfour doesn't return.

I hop Cujo doesn't ask for a trade. I have always liked him, and thought it was great when he came here t Detroit. I think Hasek is the one getting what he deserves here. He won't be coming back next year to Detroit, that's for sure. At the very least, he gave back 3 of his $8 million to the organization. However, he always hold a special place in Hockeytown, winning his first Cup here and all. We can't forget him for that. I really hope Cujo's first Cup comes here in Detroit as well. When he came here almost three summers ago, I was given an away (now, home) Joseph Red Wings jersey as a birthday present. When he failed to come through in the first round of the playoffs last year, he got blamed mostly here in Detroit, and my jersey was out of style, to say the least. I still wore it, but was made fun of constantly. Now, its one season later, and my Cujo jersey is back in style . My prediction for next season: Ellitch will go after younger talent, and let some older guys go. People Thomas and Whitney, if their contracts are up, they will be let go. Then the Wings will go after some younger, quicker players to fill in the wholes. Also, possible firing of coach Dave Lewis.

I am sad to see the Wings go out like this. I was really hoping they could come together and win one for Stevie, but we just got an unlucky break late in the first OT. Good luck to the Flames, they seem to have some pretty good fans there, ones perhaps to rival those in Hockeytown k: . Who do we, as Red Wings fans want to win now? Well, first of all, we want the Avalanche to loose (it seems lately the Detroit-Colorado rivalry has been to see who doesn't get knocked out of the playoffs first!) so go San Jose! After that, I almost don't care.

Yes, Hockeytown is mourning. It is not that the Wings played all that poorly in game six, but credit must be given to Calgary for playing very well. But, you will not fare well going 8 consecutive scoreless periods as Detroit did. Part of that was Kiprosoff but part of it was our inability to finish.

Which is somewhat related to the clutching and grabbing that is allowed now that we are in the playoffs. It is cut down drastically during the season, but in the playoffs holding and interference is ignored. Datsyuk played most of game six with a Flame draped across his back, many times riding him right to the ice. At least a dozen helmets were torn off by headlocks. I love playoff intensity, but in this series a skilled team was neutralized by a team of "truck drivers", in part by the referees swallowing their whistles.

Dave Lewis will likely be the scape goat this year, much like Cujo was last year. He is 6-10 in the postseason, and curiously scratched Jiri Fisher in game six despite Chelios being out of the lineup. So when Dandenault was out for a period getting stitches, our defensemen played a ton of minutes. I think this hurt them, especially Hatcher who was standing around on the overtime goal.

It will be an interesting off-season, with the future of many Wings uncertain. I think I will now pull for the Flyers, since they have Primeau the ex-Wing, and two ex-Blackhawks who I like, JR and Amonte. I do not like the Bolts, I despise the 'Lanche, and now I dislike Calgary.

Philly will beat Tampa Bay, then San Jose for the Cup.

if you think this year was bad with goalie controversy imagine next year. Despite being out of the lineup this season due to a groin injury hasek promises the organization that he will return to hcokeytown to start the 04-05 season. Meanwhile joseph has just finished an amazing playoff run and still has one more year in his contract. It looks like the dominator may get a taste of his own medicine...

I posted my take on the game in the RW-Flames playoff thread but there's other points worth mentioning now I've had a day to reflect:

-even though they didn't get alot of points, I was encouraged by the play of Zetterberg and Datsyuk. These guys have the skill, the smarts and the willingness to pay the price in the corners and along the boards. These guys are the future and it loks good. They will learn from this and be better for it, that you have to bear down even a little more than they did in the playoffs.

-our goalie situation is more fubar'ed than ever since Cujo I thought had a great playoff, especially vs the Flames. I like Legace and believe he can still do the job and is our starter eventually, if not next season. I would let Hasek walk or trade him as his groin problems won't go away and I think there's the feeling in the room he bailed on the guys when he packed it in for the rest of the season. Cujo deserves to stay for the way he's handled this mess and for his play, which is the most important.

-is it time for us to bring up some kids from GR? Let's be honest, I think some of the vets will retire or not be signed. Remember, we can always spinkle a FA signing or two to compliment the new faces. They can add some enthusiasm that we probably need(see the players of Calgary as to what enthusiasm can do).

-I know it's in the past but I think we missed a certain #91 this playoff run. I've always been a fan of Fedorov and I think we should have busted down doors to re-sign him. He even said as much that if things were a bit different and was not going through personal s**t, he'd still be a Red Wing. Above anything else, he always came through in the clutch during playoffs and we needed some of that. Maybe we can swing a deal next season for him k: !!!!

-let's hope Holland takes his time to re-asses everything. From the coaches to the players, I'm sure he'll take his time in what needs to be done. The only thing I would want Holland to do right away is somehow peddle Hatcher off on some other team and eat some salary if you have to. He was very poor and his mistakes led to a few goals in the playoffs (Gelinas' for sure when he was puck watching instead of tying him up).

-whatever Stevie Y decides to do, let's hope he recovers from his injury to the orbital bone first and foremost. I know all Red Wings fans are speculating as to what he's going to do but I know this, he will always, always be our captain and the greatest Red Wing ever. I don't want him to go out like that, rolling on the ice at JLA, sick to my stomach to see that may be the last image of Stevie Y in a Red Wing jersey.

-I am NOT going to change my avatar to a Flames one as I suggested I may do last night on the playoff thread. I can't bring myself to do that. They will be the team I do root for being a Canadian team and from Western Canada but the playoffs will not be as exciting or the same with Detroit in.

Thanks for the year guys, I am still proud of my team and took my lumps today at work for the OT loss but you did some good things this season. Looking forward to next season, if there is one.

You know, Red Wings 1, you mentioned soemthing about "bringing some guys up from GR." One of the guys I liked from Grand Rapids was that Darryl Bootland guy. He played with a lot of enthusiasm and heart. He would play tough and get under people's skin. He even started a few fights in his short time playing for the Wings. He didn't have very many goals, but he will get better. He is one of the guys I want to see come up out of GR, if nobody else. Looks like maybe a future "Grind-Liner" or something.

Also, about Stevie, I feel the same way. I hope he can come back to lead his tema next season. I don't want him to go out like the way he left the game in Game 5. He is a great leader. Just look to 2002, when he played through the pain of a terribly bad knee, and was still able to lead his team to a Cup victory over Carolina! If I was voting for the winner of the Conn Smythe that year, he would have gotten my vote. If he retires, he would most likely stay with the organization, maybe in the front offcie or something. Or at the very least, the organization woul try to get him to stay in the organization. Either way, once he stops playing, the face of this team changes, and perhaps, they loose a little bit of their identity, too.

And as for putting on a Calgary Flames avatar: Heck no!
