Chelios Scratched
Quote:
Chelios a Game 4 scratch
CALGARY (CP) -- Detroit Red Wing veteran defenceman Chris Chelios was scratched from the lineup prior to Thursday night's NHL playoff game against the Calgary Flames.
It's the second consecutive game Chelios, 42, has missed with a suspected arm or shoulder injury.
Calgary defenceman Rhett Warrener, who sat out Tuesday's game with an eye injury, also didn't dress for the fourth game of the Western Conference semifinal.
Chelios declined to talk to reporters following Thursday morning's pre-game skate.
It's believed Chelios suffered the injury when hit by Calgary's Oleg Saprykin during the Red Wings' 5-2 win Saturday in Detroit. After the hit, Chelios went to the Detroit dressing room but returned later in the game.
Warrener was hit in the eye and across the bridge of the nose by Steve Yzerman's stick Saturday.
Warrener's injury forced Brennan Evans, a six-foot-four, 207-pound native of Camrose, Alta., into his first NHL game Tuesday.
Evans played just 32 seconds.
