Yes! Me and my friend were watching the dissapointing Game 4 last night, and after Legace let in that third goal, I said, "I think I'd put Cujo in now." My friend said, "No way!" but sure enough, Lewis threw him in there, and he looked pretty good, making about 9 saves (at least that's what I heard, I can't find any good goalie stats anywhere!). Anyway, he looked good for the approximately 18 minutes of play he got. Antoher thing to remember, Cujo got his last shut out against the Preds, in I belive, a 6-0 victory for the Wings. I would love to see Cujo come in, and turn things around for the Wings, and win his first Cup. I have loved this guy since he played in Toronto, and when he came here I couldn't believe it! It's time for him to show us that he is worthy of a Stanley Cup, and I know he can get the job done.
Of course, I don't put all the blame on the last game on Legace. Where were the Detroit players when Vokoun gave up rebounds? They were nowhere to be seen, they were all hanging around the perimeter. They need to get some more traffic in front of the net, and capitalize on powerplay chances. Also, some bad officiating, I believe, but remember, I am Wings fan, so I will be biased. None the less, from the replay, that first goal for Nashville looked like a two-line pass. Also, Draper gets slashed in the face and draws blood, and nothing is called! Nothing seemed to be going the Wings way last night. Not to say that they played their best, either. They can't go home and say, "Oh, well, it was the refs fault we lost that game," because it wasn't. They paly great at first, like in the first period, but then they just fade after going down by a goal. They need to play a 60 minute game. Just more traffic in front of the net, and keepin' Vokoun busy will porbably do the trick. Also, playing less slopily in their own zone might help, too. Too many oddman rushes have to goals, and on too few shots. In the first period, Nashville had 3 shots--and they scored on 1/3 of those shots. Cujo, and the res of the Red and White, can hopefully rip them apart this next game, and show them who really is the better team. It's time for us to stop thinking we are expected to win, and start playing like we are expected to win.
In the meantime, lets never talk about games 3 and 4 again, okay?...
On a somewhat related note, how many of you think Holland and Illitch go after some younger guys this offseason to add some more speed to the team? Thomas is going to retire, and possibly Yzerman and Hull (I don't think Hull will retire, but who knows?). This will leave some empty roster spots, and a little more cash flow can be used in free agent shopping. Anyone know of any possiblities the Wings could go after?
