Default favorite Wings rival?

I've already posted a "favorite Oilers rival?" thread on the Oiler board ... now it's time for me to post a thread dealing with favorite Wings rivals ...

What rival teams, regardless of how the fianl score ends up, do you enjoy watching the Wings play?

I'll post three of mine ...

1. Dallas Stars. These two teams, going into last Wednessday's game, had identical won-lost records ... and for all of last season, none of the four games between the teams were decided; they all ended in ties! This season, the Wings have had their way with the Stars thus far, but I usually expect a tough game, with lots of hitting, when these teams meet regardless of the victory margin one team might have over the other.

2. Chicago Blackhawks. I always look forward to this traditional rivalry, and even have a couple of Hawks fan pen pals that I write to about these games. The team records before these matchups usually don't matter ... the Wings could be winning several games in a row before hitting a brick wall against the Hawks, or the Wings could be struggling, as they did last week, and shut the Hawks out. When these two teams meet, anything goes!

3. St. Louis Blues. It seems to me that these matchups usually end up with a St. Louis Bruise. Regardless of what the score is, and in whose favor it is, these matchups bring back mentions of the old "Norris Black-and-Blue Division". Whichever team runs up a big score against the other will usually pay a bruising price. I expect this rivalry to gain more steam now that Osgood is staying with the Blues and Hasek is back with the Wings.

*I also could have mentioned Detroit-Colorado, but now that Roy is gone, the rivalry doesn't seem to have as much of the intensity as it did during its heyday in the mid to late 1990s.

Colorado. Even with Roy gone, there still is a rivarly between them, it may have dissapated in the past few years, but I'd say its still the biggest Wing rival.

Detroit-Nashville

9 Fighting Majors, jesus.

I've seen Detroit-Colorado games get pretty heated. That's my choice.

Yeah that game against Nashville was very rough. The funny thing is when Detroit comes usually half the arena is Detroit fans.

I agree with tdg blues are def number two, division rivals, playoff history, the fact that ex wing Osgood is the blues front goaltender

We'll have to see what happens next with Colorado ... now that Hasek's back, the Avs aren't going to forget what happened the last time they faced the Dominator. The Avs certainly have a lot of big guns in their lineup (Sakic, Forsberg, Kariya (who I heard is coming back from his injury), Selanne, Hejduk ... ock: ) ...

I didn't have the chance to see the last Wings-Blues game or that fight-filled match against Smashville ( ), although I saw the most recent Wings-Predators game. I'm looking forward to the next games against each of those teams ...
