Wings recall Cujo; expected to play
Curtis Joseph’s conditioning stint with the Detroit Red Wings' AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, lasted one game. The Red Wings recalled Joseph on Sunday and expect to have him start in goal this Thursday when the club opens up a four-game road trip in Nashville. On Friday, Joseph made 20 saves in his first minor-league hockey game in eight seasons, a 4-1 victory over the Utah Grizzlies. It was his first game since the Red Wings were swept in the playoffs last April. Joseph underwent surgery August 20 as doctors removed a bone chip from the back of the right ankle. The Red Wings have been trying to trade Joseph since six-time Vezina Trophy winner Dominik Hasek rejoined the team this summer after a one-year retirement. The 36-year-old Joseph has two years and $16 million left on his contract, as well as a no-trade clause.
i say this is a good idea...get Joseph to play a few games when Hasek get's tired...wonder if he'll win.

What's Legace supposed to do then? Yes, Cujo needs to be showcased in hopes that some team will make an offer but he doesn't need to replace Legace. Give Cujo a few starts and then send him back down to the farm until he can be traded.

I've got no beef with the Red Wings but this giant Hasek-Joseph-Legace mess is entirely self-inflicted. Maybe they could fix the problem by hiring another top-notch goaltender. :]
I don't think Cujo would be happy to be backup. that's the whole problem. Manny probably could be a starter but he hasn't had that promotion yet. Cujo IMHO wouldn't be happy to be demoted to backup status.
Why not trade Legace. I'm sure most teams could use a solid Number 1 Goaltender. Legace is only a backup, but he can easily play as a starter.
And knowing Detroit they want to keep both Hasek and Joseph for playoffs.
I'd like to see Legace get traded actually. I think he is a bit overated or given too much credit as a back-up because of the team he plays on(ie.Deep defence on a Hall of Fame team). I'd like to see a team like the Flames go after him and then see what his results are. I'm not saying he isn't any good, but he has only been a number 2 goalie on a very deep team. I'm not convinced!!!
Legace has been good when needed. He always comes in at key moments.
As for Legace to Calgary, I don't want to see another Mike Vernon situation. Win the cup with the Wings, move around a bit and finish your career disasterously in Calgary.
cujo played very strong for just having surgery. The wings main objective for him to play is to kind of showcase him to other teams and if all goes well then hopefully he can make a trade believe me contray to what you guys think the wings arent that greedy and they arent paying cujo 8 million to be a backup. They respect legace and want to keep them as their backup and i know for a fact that legace has no problem with that.
