omg what a stupid question...of course they are cup contenders...they have been a domint force in the NHL for many years....they haven't missed the playoff in god know how long...

Honeslty speaking, I don't think that they are cup contenders basically because they are too old. Two years puts alot of strain on ppl's bodies and most wings players are really near retiring, 82 games takes a toll on ones body. This team will make the playoffs i just don't see them being in the final 4 in the west.

Sure, they may be old on the back end. But they have great talent up front in Datsyuk and Zetterberg. They have Williams for a prospect, not too bad either.

Will we see an Oakland Raiders in this Redwings team? I doubt it.

Detroit's always good, at least in recent years.

even with old guys on the team they still proved to be able to win the cup when they did...and they do have that young talent that will play an extra minute if they need to....zetterberg, Datsyuk

besides age why wouldnt they be a cup contender. Even if the wings won all 82 games people would still put them down for their age. They've got the young prospects, daty, zetterberg, and williams. They've got the leadership and the expereince, and they've got the defense.... you all know my modo
