Detroit, MI – Detroit Red Wings General Manager Ken Holland today announced that Steve Yzerman has signed a one-year contract to return for his 21st NHL season, all with the Red Wings.

“We are all very pleased to have Steve back in the fold for one more year”, said Holland. “He brings a great deal of dedication, skill and leadership abilities to our hockey club and I feel his competitive nature will greatly help this team remain successful throughout the upcoming season”.

Yzerman, 38, is the longest serving captain in the history of the National Hockey League wearing the “C” since the 1986-87 NHL season.
I heard that Yzerman might play on the wing. If this is true, then Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Larionov will be the top 3 centers. Not good for this powerhouse. Defence is strengthening while the offence is sliding away slowly.

Yzerman won't be playing for long , he already said he won't be playing in back to back games this season which means he'll miss around 15 games because of that and he'll probably get injured sooner or later .


Larionov isn't a Redwing no more . :!:

even so the team plays better when stevie is out there he is their motivation and it makes it even better when he is out there scoring
