How does Morgan Pressel, a teenage golfer from Florida, become a huge Detroit Red Wings fan?

"My family is from Detroit, so I'm a huge Red Wings fan and have always been," she said. "I love it. I grew up watching them play. My whole family is into it."

She lives in Florida now but doesn't drop by many Panthers games.

"Occasionally I will, if the Red Wings are in town, but they didn't visit last season (because of the NHL's unbalanced schedule) and they don't this season."

BAD TRIP FOR KOREAN

While the competition was on the course or on the range, Korea's Jin Young Pak was walking around Royal Mayfair with her arm in a sling and her knee wrapped in ice.

"I was running outside the hotel and I fell," she said.

"It was right after dinner. I was running and fell on the sidewalk."

She's waiting for doctors to give her the green light, which obviously won't happen if the arm is broken.

"I hope it's not, but I'm still waiting (for results)," she said, adding the swelling makes it difficult for them to tell for sure. "I hope I can play, but we'll see. If they say it's not broken, I'll try to play."

EASY BEING GREEN

Royal Mayfair superintendent Debbie Amirault has the place in mint shape. All it took was two years of hard work.

"We've been gearing up for the last two years," she said.
