The Wings announced the signing of several players, essentially for Grand Rapids. Here's the release:

Detroit, MI...Detroit Red Wings Assistant General Manager Jim Nill today announced the Red Wings have signed eight players to one and two year contracts. In keeping with club policy, additional terms were not available.

Matt Ellis (two years) returns to Detroit after spending the last five seasons in the Red Wings organization at Toledo (ECHL) and Grand Rapids (AHL). Ellis made his NHL debut in 2006-07 appearing in a total 16 games for the Red Wings.
