Forward Henrik Zetterberg wants to be a member of the Red Wings for the rest of his playing career, reports the Detroit News.

Zetterberg, 26, told Sports Express, the Swedish sports daily, if the Wings want to sign him to a long-term contract, he's ready.

I'd play in Antarctica if I were offered what he makes. I'd freeze to death I'm sure, but I wouldn't have to worry about student loans anymore!

Nice. Good news for all the Red Wings fans. I love to hear commitment from players, rather than "Whatever team gives me the most $ i'll play for!"

No DiPietro like contract? What the heck is that suppose to mean? You don't want Zetterberg for the rest of his career at 4.5mill? I'd gladly take that kind of a deal.

Guys, Zetterberg will sign where he thinks the money is right, or where he thinks he has the best chance of winning the Stanley Cup. So long as Detroit seems to be that team, or so long as they are willing to pay him the money, of course he's sticking around, it was a fairly easy comment for him to make. But Detroit has to get him under an extension as soon as they can, because they dont want him to think that they are hesitating in any way. He is an elite player, most likely has a better ceiling than Drury or Gomez, who were paid ridiculous amounts. Does Detroit match those kinds of efforts? Well, they left themselves with enough cap space to do so, so I really don't expect Zetts to sign for less than Datsyuks 6.7. Probably a 4 year, 7.3mill/year deal.

Dingleberry says this;

Z will sign for at least the number of years Datsyuk and for more money.

Wingsnut says this, dingleberry and his crystal ball must certainly be right, and we must all hail dingleberry and his talking in third person.

Franchise players were becoming harder to find until the cap came into place, with Sakic and Yzerman being the usual names coming up in that gategory.

Maybe the tag will make a comeback 'cause I don't see Crosby or Ovechkin going anywhere anytime soon, but then again (come on, say it with me everyone) -

"even Wayne Gretzky was traded".
