The Detroit News's Ted Kulfan believes that the Red Wings may have to take a chance on players with injury or consistency issues if they want to land another top-six forward to offset the loss of an entire line in Robert Lang, Kyle Calder, and Todd Bertuzzi:
July 6, Detroit News : "I'd like to sign one more NHL forward between now and training camp," general manager Ken Holland said Friday. "I'm talking to a couple people. You get calls every day, more agents are calling. For us it comes down to price." ... Peter Forsberg: His career has been derailed by injuries in recent years. The Wings and Avalanche are apparently interested, although both are worried about his health issues. He's not likely to return to Nashville.
Alexei Yashin: A career underachiever who was bought out by the Islanders, Yashin is only 33 and has size (6-foot-3, 220 pounds). The key is price. The Wings don't want to pay him more than $4 million.

Anson Carter: The Wings weren't interested last summer when he was a free agent. He struggled last season in Columbus and Carolina.
