Hudler shows knack for net! wings fall to the avs.
Quote:
DETROIT -- Maybe Jiri Hudler is ready to play in the NHL.
Out of minor league options, and likely to remain with the Red Wings once the regular season begins, Hudler had a goal and assist Thursday as the Wings lost to Colorado 3-2 in a shootout.
He also scored the lone Wings goal in the shootout, which the Avalanche won 2-1.
"It's my fourth year here, I better show them something," Hudler said. "I'm working hard to play at this level."
Hudler, a left wing, scored a power-play goal at 3:39 of the third period, and assisted on Nicklas Lidstrom's power-play goal in the first period.
"Hudler was a good player for us tonight," coach Mike Babcock said.
Mark Rycroft (power play) and Brett McLean scored for the Avalanche in regulation.
"I didn't think we worked as hard as we should have," Babcock said. "The team that worked the hardest won."
