Doug Brown had a piece of masking tape over his name badge in the locker. In marker was written "Brownov". Doug played wing to Federov, Kozlov, Vladdie and Feistov.

Ken Holland, the Wings' current General Manager, once played goalie for them. Even if it was one or two games.

And all of us in this here Red Wings sub-forum know one fact: The Red Wings are and will always be better than the Avs. PERIOD.

In the 1997 Finals, the Red Wings gave up only 6 goals in 4 games.

Steve Yzerman was the logest serving captain for the RedWings 20 years, Danny Gare was the captain just before Yzerman.

The wings can't fly.

They can sure play hockey, though.

Draper was acquired by the Wings for $1.00.

Not sure if it was Canadian or American.

I heard there was a restaurant somewhere under the ice for the players and their families only.. Not sure if its true, but it would be extremely cool if it were.

When Brett Hull went to the Red wings, although he had always used number 16 , he switched to number 17 out of respect for Vladimir Konstantinov, a red wings defenceman who was severely injured in an automobile accident on June 13, 1997 , just after the wings won their first stanley cup since 1955.

Although Vladdie's number 16 has not been officially retired, no red wing uses it out of respect to him. It is somewhat 'semi retired'

The red wings keep his locker just the way he left it and written on the locker is their chosen word "Believe"

When the Red Wings won the cup again in 1998 they had to get official permission to have Vladdie's name engraved on the Cup. He was wheeled out in his wheelchair and they put the cup on his lap. Although he never played they wanted his name on the cup because he was family to them and a big part of their team.

Vladdie attended the ceremony to retire Yzerman's number 19 along with Ted Lindsay and several other Red wings and former Red Wings.
