(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars attempt to rebound from a tough road loss when they return to the American Airlines Center tonight to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Dallas had its three-game win streak halted with a narrow defeat at Florida last night. Olli Jokinen's goal 2:11 into overtime lifted the Panthers to a 2-1 triumph at the BankAtlantic Center.
Darryl Sydor had the lone tally for the Stars, who received a strong outing between the pipes from Mike Smith. The backup netminder turned away 34-of-36 shots in the setback.
Thursday's loss marked the third consecutive overtime contest for Dallas. The club had won the first two encounters, earning a 2-1 decision over Vancouver on Sunday and edging Tampa Bay by the same 2-1 score on Tuesday.
The Stars currently stand in second place in the competitive Pacific Division and trail frontrunning Anaheim by five points. Dallas also leads rival San Jose by two points for the fifth playoff seed in the Western Conference.
The Sharks and Stars will meet one another in Dallas on Sunday.
