(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars are doing their best to keep pace in the wild Pacific Division.
The club has won six of its past eight games and sits seven points behind the Anaheim Ducks for the lead in the standings. Dallas, currently in third place with 72 points, also trails the San Jose Sharks by one point for second.
However, the Stars have given the Ducks and Sharks a reason to be mindful of the franchise. Dallas has three wins over San Jose in their past eight games and also downed the Ducks in that span as well.
Dallas' winning ways against the top two teams in the Pacific started in the beginning of the month, when the Stars swept a two-game series in San Jose.
Then on February 10, the Stars skated past the Ducks 1-0 to snap a three-game losing streak to Anaheim. Goaltender Mike Smith was the unlikely source of strong play in net, as he stopped 32 shots for his third shutout of the season. He also extended his career-high shutout streak to 119 minutes and seven seconds.
