I can say I'm on both sides of the arguement here. I believe that Dallas winning early on in the start helped them alot. But to have big names doesn't help a team either. Look at Nashville, they had two of the nearly biggest names in the game, plus two solid well known goaltenders. They have placed second nearly every year, and yet the fan base is ot there. As Amo was saying, you need to have people in you city interested in the sport. If nobody knows what the hell a puck is, than how can they watch a game? Dallas built local rinks, and held little tournaments before they had a team. this got kids and they're parents interested in the sport.
