Steve Ott has been re-signed by the Stars according to the Forth Worth Star Telegram. It's a two year deal worth about $700,000 a year. More details are expected when the Stars announce the deal later today.

Also, the Stars have not yet started negotiation with Trevor Daley or Mike Smith.

Good move by re-signing Ott. Ott is a good player and still young. I look forward to seeing if he produces more offense this year.

Armstrong is saying that the team is still looking for a scoring forward. Samsonov and Carter are the two names that have been mentioned, but I see Samsonov as being more likely than Carter, even though both players are likely to sign elsewhere. If free agent don't work, the Stars are likely to trade a defenseman in order to acquire offense.

I really don't see Dallas signing Carter or Samsonov. Trading a defenseman for a forward could happen but which defenseman will they trade.

Yeah I see the trading of a defenseman as the more likely situation. Niinimaa is the name that I hear a lot of people mentioning, but I not sure what team would want him. If Daley gets re-signed he could generate some trade interest, as he is still young and has potential.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram the Stars are now talking to Lindros. The rumor is that the deal will be for one year and worth $1.5-$2 million.

Get rid of Niimimaa. Nothing but a pylon on the ice. Interesting that Daley hasn't signed yet. Trade Bait?

I would like to see Niinimaa play with a healthy ankle, before I decide whether or not to trade him. He wasn't the worst dman on the Stars last season and he had an injured ankle, so he has the potential to be better. I agree that the Stars could be looking to trade Daley. I hope they don't. I would like to see Daley play one more full season before we write him off.
