Dallas Stars goaltender Marty Turco is recovering from off-season hip surgery.
Turco underwent a 90-minute procedure in New York last Friday to clean up the cartilage in his hip, which has been hampering him for the last three seasons.
Turco plans several weeks of rehabilitation in Dallas and says he expects to be ready in time for the World Cup, if he's called upon by Team Canada.
"If I had to play in a couple of weeks, I could," Turco tells the Dallas Morning News. "I'll be going to the rink every day for the next little while to be sure everything's fine. But I feel great."
After winning 30-plus games for the second straight season, Turco and the Stars were eliminated from the playoffs for the second straight year, this time in the first round by the Colorado Avalanche in five games.
