Default Stars put unblemished mark on the line in Anaheim

10/15 10:18:07 ET

The Dallas Stars try to continue one of the best starts in franchise history this evening when they visit the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center.

The Stars have won their first four games this season, marking the most successful early campaign for the club since the 1996-97 team won its first six contests -- the franchise record.

On Saturday, captain Brenden Morrow scored a pair of power-play goals as the Stars downed the Los Angeles Kings, 4-1, at the Staples Center. It was the second portion of a two-game set in LA, as the Stars defeated the Kings, 4-1, on Thursday,

Mike Ribeiro and Jere Lehtinen also scored for the Stars, while Marty Turco stopped 23 shots in the 141st win of his career. He is tied for third on the Stars' all-time list with Gilles Meloche.

Morrow, who was named team captain in the preseason, leads the club with four goals and two assists in the early going.

The Stars will visit San Jose on Tuesday.

Anaheim, meanwhile, suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday, losing a 5-4 tilt to the New York Islanders in a shootout. Mike York scored in the sixth-round of the shootout to lift the Isles.

Samuel Pahlsson had two goals and Chris Pronger finished with a goal and an assist for the Ducks, who had their three-game season-opening winning streak ended. Pronger, who was obtained via trade from Edmonton over the summer, netted his first goal as a member of the Ducks.

Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 20 shots in the loss.

Anaheim plays the third portion of a five-game homestand tonight and will host Detroit on Wednesday.

Dallas went 6-2 against Anaheim last season.
