Coach Dave Tippett talked throughout preseason about the Stars "earning their confidence," and it appeared Saturday night that the team took its next step.
After a rocky preseason and a mercurial opener in Colorado, the Stars played a solid team game and defeated the New Jersey Devils, 3-1, in the home opener at American Airlines Center.
"We've been working hard in training camp, and we haven't always got the results, so this is a big step," defenseman Philippe Boucher said.
"That was a pretty good team we're playing against, and we played for 60 minutes.
