Amid ongoing speculation of a coaching change, Dallas Stars general manager Doug Armstrong emerged from a meeting with team owner Tom Hicks on Friday and immediately informed the Stars coaching staff that Dave Tippett will not be relieved of his duties.

Assistant coaches Mark Lamb and Rick Wilson will also be kept on in an effort to build on what Dallas management believes was a strong season.

Dallas finished fifth in the Western Conference, but fell to the Vancouver Canucks in seven games in the opening round of the playoffs.

Tippett has coached the Stars since May of 2002. He's won 190 games in four seasons and has led the Stars to a pair of division titles.
