Sports Network) - The Canucks and Stars will meet for the first Game 7 of this year's postseason, as Dallas visits Vancouver's GM Place tonight for the deciding contest of this Western Conference quarterfinal series.
The Canucks once held a seemingly comfortable three games to one lead in this set, but Marty Turco and the Stars have posted consecutive shutout victories to even the best-of-seven series at 3-3.
After pulling out a 1-0 overtime victory in Game 5 at Vancouver, Dallas returned home and notched a 2-0 triumph on Saturday.
Turco recorded his second straight shutout and third of this series on Saturday, as he turned aside all 21 shots he faced to force this evening's Game 7. The three shutouts ties an NHL record for most in a single playoff series.
The 31-year-old Turco has always had the reputation as an excellent regular- season goaltender who struggled once the playoffs came around, but his performance in this series should go a long way to ending that type of talk.
Prior to this postseason, Turco had played in 22 playoff games and managed a record of 8-14, with no shutouts and a 2.54 goals against average. This year, the Ontario native has the three shutouts to go along with a miniscule 1.20 GAA and superb .955 save percentage.
Mike Modano and Jeff Halpern each scored in Game 6 for the Stars, who have trailed three-games-to-one 12 times over their franchise history and have never come back to win a series. In fact, this is the first time the club has ever forced a Game 7 after being down 3-1.
