Colorado moves I would like to see.
I have been a fan of this franchise since it was in Quebec. My first love is the Leafs but I loved watching the Nords and Habs in the playoffs.
Now that Sakic is gone for 6 weeks and realistically there is no chance of winning the cup or to even guarantee a playoff berth, I would like to see the Avs make a few moves to stay competetive but also build for the future.
I think the right deal will land Staal from the Pens.
To the Pens:
Hejduk
Wolski
To the Avs:
Staal
Sykora
Hejduk has one more year on his deal and could hit 40 goals with Crosby. Wolski is a good young player and provides the youth needed to replace what the Pens are giving up in Staal. Sykora is a bit of a down grade from Hejduk for Colorado but he should still provide enough offense. Staal will make a great 2nd line center for years to come. Possibly even developing to a 1a situation with Stastny.
To Colorado:
Lang
Halak
MTL 1st 2010
MTL 2nd 2009
To Canadiens:
Sakic
Budaj
Once he is healthy and should he chose to do so, Sakic may try for one last cup with a contender. Sakic could be the leader to take the Canadiens to the promise land. Budaj is there to fill Halak's back up role. Lang is just for cap reasons. The real prize is Halak. He could develop into a great #1 for the Avs.
